Office Makeover for Mr. Front Porch

In the year and half that we have lived in our new home we have gradually been making over areas of it. Most recently we completed the master bathroom. If you missed that reveal you can see it HERE. I promised Mr. Front Porch that once we were completed with that room we would start on his office. His home office at the last house was one of the first projects I tackled. You can see it HERE. Most of the pieces we left with the house or sold.

He eagerly worked on clearing his office out over a couple of weekends. You wouldn't have wanted to see the real before!LOL.

It is a great space for an office.

The double windows are great and look out onto the front porch.

Over the past year and half we have been going back and fourth on how "He vs I" want the office to look and thankfully we finally came to an agreement.
I wanted a brick feature wall. He wanted barn wood. Barn wood won out because it was more cost effective. Next up came the paint color. I made a HUGE mistake when we built and chose the wrong color for the entire house so I jump at the opportunity to repaint any room in our home. I wanted the office to have a masculine English Country feel to it.

Color samples I chose are as follows:
F- Olympic Paint Feldspar
I-Sherwin Williams Iron Ore
N-Sherwin Williams Navy Seawall
C- Valspar Chimney Smoke
S- Sherwin Williams Slate Tile

Believe it or not the gal who likes to lighten and brighten things up actually chose a dark color.

I decided to take a leap of faith and went with my original inclination of using Sherwin Williams Iron Ore. Gulp!

The barn wood we chose has darker hints to it and so Iron Ore plays very well with it and the darker tones in our flooring as well.

Shortly after we moved in I did purchase this desk and chair for Mr. Front Porch. The hunt was on for the pieces that would suit his needs. We debated on doing built ins but decided that if we were investing that much money into the space we wanted to be able to bring the pieces with us if/when we move.

We chose two black cabinets to sit on the feature wall with this black desk in between. The black cabinets are not as large as the one pictured but I just pulled it for reference. We also chose this large sideboard that will hold his hobby materials.

The curtains will be this vintage themed hunting/fishing  fabric. To ground things I chose a brown houndstooth rug. I actually purchased it when I purchased the desk and chair.

Things are coming together quickly. I already have the room painted. I just need to go back and do a third coat because darker colors show more roller strokes. I also already have the barn wood wall up and am doing something special to it.
I can't wait to show y'all how awesome the paint looks in the space!

  5. I think even though you picked a darker color for the walls the barn wood wall will lighten it up. Everything looks like it is coming together. Can't wait to see it finished!
