Suburban Farmhouse Wood Flooring Reveal

Well we finally have a closing date. Only 5 weeks to go and we will be home owners once again. There has been a flurry of activity down at the house.
Suburban Farmhouse-Building Update-From My Front Porch To Yours

This week the big news is the wood flooring being installed! We did not get down there before they completed the kitchen and covered it up but look at the cross buck door that was installed!:)

When building you have to look past all the messes. You have no idea how I much want to put a huge "Don't Touch" sign on our farmhouse sink and faucet.

Oh look there is our flooring!:)

We went lighter than our last house and was not sure what our reaction was going to be once we saw it down.

I have to say I am in love with how it turned out!

The flooring was originally going to be installed north to south but I really wanted it installed from east to west like our last home. Thankfully Mr. Front Porch gave in and our builder was willing to accommodate.

The wood flooring is in most of the house except for the secondary bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry room. I think it really adds to the farmhouse charm of our future home. I am not crazy about my paint choice now that the flooring is in so I may be busy repainting before we move in.

In other news, do you know how long it has been since I have been able to create wonderful spaces? Yes, I did pick out everything for the new house but that was way back at the beginning of April and other than saying I want this and that I had no part in the actual implementation. That is almost 6 months y'all and for a DIY gal like me I was going thru withdrawal! I have been longing to create again! That is half a year with no projects, no vignettes, no making anything pretty and homey. No nothing but living amongst boxes upon boxes.

Well yesterday I let loose and went crazy! Though it has been in the upper 90's with the heat index above 105 I played out on the rental back porch and brought fall to SE Texas!:) Come back tomorrow to see what I came up with.

  2. I luv the new floors!!! We also installed our floor against the traditional way. Got some flack 'bout it from the builder, but I had to remind him that it WAS our home, and we wanted it this way! I don't regret my decision at all.
Looking forward to your back porch tomorrow. Have missed you décor posts!!!

  4. It looks wonderful! I bet you are really excited. I know what you mean about not decorating or DIY's. When we moved into this house a year and a half ago, it was not more than a week when we realized our mistake. So we finally put this house on the market a few months ago. I am looking forward to finding a new to us home that I can make mine. I also just did a little fall decorating...come see!

  7. Pamela,
Your wood floor is beautiful. I've never heard of running flooring north/south versus east/west. Your flooring looks beautiful as shown. It was 100° two days ago in north Texas, so we are still waiting for Fall weather to arrive.
