Round Top- A Quick Trip

Twice a year there is Antique Week up in and around Round Top,Texas. They have a Spring show and then one in the fall. I had not been in a few years and wanted to drive up. Round Top is only about an hour and half away from our new stomping ground but I did not want to go alone so when my friend Janet texted and asked if I wanted to go I said heck yea!

We did not have much time. We had to go and get back in time to get the kids from school. That left us about 5 hours to get up there, shop and back. Our mission was to find her a kitchen table.

One of the places we stopped was McLaren's which is a cool place. There was a table there she really loved but it was not the right size and in the end I think we decided not the right shape.

Vendors travel over the pond and bring back so many treasures to sell at Round Top. Of course the prices reflect that.

You have to be knowledgeable enough to be able to tell the true pieces from the knock offs.

I loved this little cabinet.

Such a cool mirror. It was HUGE so I imagine you would have to have a two story fireplace for it.

We stopped by the Paul Michael space while there. I LOVE this store! They come every year to Houston for The Nutcracker Market and have the largest booth. They carry home decor, furniture, lighting, and so much more. I could not wait to see their set up for Round Top.

Talk about beautiful displays! The Round Top set up was a bit different than their regular set up. It leaned towards a modern aesthetic and was more of their larger pieces and not so much the decor part.

I am not sure if this bed is a reproduction or not but it sure was beautiful.

I loved these swans that looked hand carved. I almost bought one but alas I did not. Being in the rental I have been very particular about what I buy till we get into the new house. If they have them at The Nutcracker Market in November I will probably bring one home.

They had all kinds of lighting and this one caught my eye. I thought it would be a neat one for over a kitchen island.

Our trip trip to Round Top was fast and furious. We covered only a few places and never did find the kitchen table we had set out for. It was so HOT it was not funny! Heat Index of 100 y'all so we were melting. I am not sure we could have made it much longer there even if we did have the entire day to spend. My friend purchased some tea cups she had found just so she could say she bought something.

I purchased this light from Paul Michael. Yes, I know it was freaking Round Top and I bought a manufactured light fixture but it was what I was after so I am glad that had brought some with them. I had seen it on their website a few weeks back and fell in love with it. I think it will hang in our stairwell to the game room.

  2. I have always wanted to venture down to Round Top however it's like 14 hour drive so just never went. I would like to see all the booths and what they offer.
You were brave to try that trip while kids was in school.
