As mentioned in my last post From My Front Porch To Yours is moving!:) We have been house hunting for three years now and have seen quite a few homes.

Home Styles- From My Front Porch To Yours
Here is the criteria we went off of when house hunting. It was a must for us to come up with a list to make sure Mr. Front Porch and I were on the same page. Some were non negotiable and others were items we just have always wanted. This move is not mandatory so that means the house needed to make us want to move.

1. Same/Shorter Commute for Mr. Front Porch.
2. Better Schools or at least equivalent.
3. Half an Acre + lot size.
4. 4 bedrooms/2.5 bathrooms
5. Game Room
6. Swimming Pool
7. Open Concept Kitchen
8. Less than 5 toilets to clean. We have 5 now and I HATE it!
9. Wood Floors Thru Out
10. Detached 3 Car Garage
11. Front Porch capable of Rocking Chairs/Swing
12. Farmhouse Sink
13. Wood Beams
14. Island Kitchen
15. Fenced Yard
16. Outdoor Fireplace/Fire Pit
17. Trees
18. Fireplace in Living Room

The first home I am going to share with you all is a beautiful Craftsman that sits on an acre size lot, fully fenced with a ton of trees. It has a three car garage but it was not detached and no swimming pool.

I loved the arched front door! It reminded me of a fairy tale house. Beautiful hand scraped wood floors but only in the dining and living room.

Wood beams and a jaw dropping first impression when you walk into the home. Plus an amazing stone fireplace!

More wood beams in the master bath and a walk thru shower. This home had 2.5 baths which was perfect.

The kitchen was not really open concept.

  1. Beautiful home! I prefer carpet in the bedrooms for softness and it's quiet. You can of course add a pool. Can't wait to see more!

  2. Beautiful home. This is a great way to approach buying a home. I'm with you on wanting wood floors throughout out home. We have always had that because our home have always been homes built in the 30s. We like to use oriental carpets over the wood floors. I'm with you on limiting the bathrooms. We have three, and that's plenty! '-) Good luck!

  3. I love that home and would prefer that kitchen to a great room open concept type like we now have. It's the reason I want to sell after 5 years. With that keeping room, it really is a better set up. And I'm wondering if there is a room that you can convert to a bedroom easily? It's just too lovely to pass up.

  4. This one is very pretty as well and does seem to hit alot more of your check marks. The kitchen seems fairly open to me. It has a keeping room that is fabulous and that porch. You've done it before you can always add another pool!
