No Sew Fall Leaf Pillow

No Sew Fall Leaf Pillow From My Front Porch To Yours
Over the weekend we took a trip to Ikea and I found some great fall plaid pillow covers. They were only $5 each which was a steal. When I brought them home I decided I wanted to embellish them.

I came up with a plan to make leaf wreath pillows. I brainstormed over how I wanted to make the leaves. At first I was going to trace them and cut them out of burlap or felt but then decided I did not want to put that much energy into them. I am not big on crafting. Give me a room or a piece of furniture to paint any day. A craft, not so much. I think what a fun project it will be and half way thru I am over it but I made myself complete these pillow covers. Anyways, since I was not going to be cutting out any leaves a light bulb went off.

I had several strands of sad looking garland that I was going to throw away.

I could of just pulled the leaves off of the stems but then I would have been left with the plastic veining which I did not want.

I decided to pull on the leaf fabric and it came off of the plastic veining very easily.

Now the leafs would be able to lay flat.

Next up I took a dinner plate and traced a circle in the center of the pillow case.

I separated the different size leaves into their own piles. This made it easier for me to choose which leaf to place where on the pillow cover.

I placed the large leaves first.

To attach the leaves I just used a line of hot glue down the center of each leaf. Note- You want to place wax paper on the inside of your pillow cover just in case the hot glue seeps thru. The wax paper will prevent you from gluing your pillow cover shut.

After the large leaves were glued down I added the medium size leaves at an angel.

The I added the small leaves on the opposite angel.

This is essentially what the pattern looked like. After I glued down each leaf I went back and glued down the edges of leaves as well so that they would not stick up. I wanted them all to lay flat.

To add a touch of whimsy I added a twine bow and some acorns.

Not too bad for a non crafter.

Super easy craft that would even be beautiful if I had taken the time to trace and cut out cream colored felt leaves. The possibilities are endless!

  10. That's such a cool idea. I just found some silk leaves the other day among some leaves that were raked into a pile. Now I know what to do with them. Thanks

  11. I really like the way you added the silk leaves to ready-made pillow cases. I would never thought of mixing all of the colors together but they look beautiful. Job well done.
