Fun Questions About Blogging & Decorating

A few years back I was asked to answer a few fun questions about blogging and decorating. I thought that I would share those questions again since it has been so long.

Why do I write/create?
Ever since I was a little girl I have always had a passion for design/decorating. I would stay up till the wee hours of the morning moving my bedroom furniture around. In school I took drafting and drew up floor plans for homes. I wanted to go to college to become an interior designer but instead went for Business Management. While doing so I started working retail and loved merchandising. There was nothing better than spending hours making over the store.

I blog because I find it exciting and fun to share ideas. I love to able to explore the worlds of others who inspire me, so in return I like to think that I may possibly inspire others who stop my blog. My blog allows me to in a sense be that interior designer that I never became. It also allows me to connect with so many wonderful people that I never would have had the opportunity to "meet".

How does my style differ from others in my genre?
I am inspired by many different styles from shabby chic to french country. I think all of my inspirations have similarities but are different in how they are executed. This is true of our home. I try to combine elements of all the styles that I love. Though some aspects are similar to others I feel that how I pull them all into one is unique. Each of our homes are unique in that way. Not one of us has the exact same execution.
How does my creative process work?
Well honestly it starts out all over the place and eventually I narrow it down. I can stare at something for days on end and then BAM at midnight it dawns on me exactly what I want to do. I am a major night owl. It is not a rare occasion to find me up at 1 in the morning just starting to paint a piece of furniture or decorating a space. I blame my mother for this!;) She is a night owl as well.

What am I currently working on?

Normally that would be a loaded question. I am pretty sure I have ADHD. I start on things all the time and not even half way thru I hop on to another project. I drive Mr. Front Porch crazy that way. Right now though I am pretty focused on my largest project to date and that would be the construction of our suburban farmhouse.

At this moment there is not a lot for me to do other than to monitor the progress. We picked out our selections back in April and hopefully come October we will close. The fun stuff will begin then! It is sorta a daunting task turning a house into a home. It took 7 long years for us to achieve that with our last home but thankfully we will not have any huge undertakings since we are building instead of renovating. It has been fun sharing the process of our build thus far with you all. Hoping to have some more progress to share this week so be sure to stop back by!
In the meantime you also can click under each photo in this post to see more of the spaces in our previous home.

Here is the latest on the new house!:)

So where do you find your inspiration? Do you have any crazy brainstorming rituals?

Sharing at these wonderful blogs:

  4. I enjoyed learning about how you came to this point in your life. It seems like many DIY bloggers always had a love of interior design and creating. I love how blogging can make our dreams come true.

  5. Hi Pamela
Oh, what beautiful rooms in your home....good luck with the building of your new home. It looks beautiful already. I totally relate to the ADHD of creating. At any one time, I have about six different projects going! LOL
