Computer Trouble & A Winner

This is me right now! Our less than 2 year old Mac has up and died. Seems the hard drive crashed. The Hubster has tried everything to revive it but it is a loss. Hopefully this weekend we can go out and purchase an external hard drive to run off until we can save enough to buy a new computer. I am not able to get any of my blog stuff to include all of my pictures I had downloaded for upcoming posts. For now I am on our 8 year old Mac which is a dinosaur compared to what I am use but it will do. It just takes me awhile to accomplish anything on here.
On a happier note I have the winner of the Folky Art Candles Giveaway!
Congrats Karen Gregory Farris!

Y'all blew me away with all your entries and I thank you for that.

Thank you April for offering up your candles they are truly amazing! Head on over to April's Etsy Shop Folky Art Candles if you have not already. It is time to start putting a dent in the holiday shopping list!:)

Hope everybody has a great weekend and see ya back here tomorrow for "How I Found My Style Sundays".

Welcoming Fall Mantel 2013

Fall Mantle
Yesterday was the first day of Fall. Anybody else as excited as I am about the lower temps and cool breezes? It is quite a welcoming change here in Texas that is for sure. With Fall upon us I decided to get cracking on bringing Fall into our home and the first place I started was our living room.
Fall Mantle
Our living room recently got a makeover so that called for a different route on the Fall decor this year. Simplicity called out to me unlike years past. You can click here and here to see some of my previous fall mantles.
Fall Chalk Board
My first attempt at free handing a chalk board and boy let me tell ya it took many tries. I know it still looks a little wonky but eventually I will get the hang of straight lines!;)

We just  love our little hooty owl.
The Hubster thought that I had lost my mind when he saw me adding book pages to the t.v. armoire. I had to tell him not to worry. They are not permanent.

Living Room Fall Decorations
Certainly a change from previous years but I am really liking it. Next up will be the dining room.

How I Found My Style Sundays- So Much Better With Age

Thank you so much, Pamela, for having me over to your gorgeous blog and sharing How I Found My Style with your lovely readers.
I'm Jamie and I blog over at So Much Better With Age.
My profile www.somuchbetterwithage.com

I'm sure you can tell by my profile photo that I love french decor. What exactly is my decorating style? I think about this a lot actually. I know it's not something most people think of but I do spend a lot of time thinking about it because it helps me make decide on purchases for my home. I define my style as Rustic Beachy French.
What does that mean? Well, I basically picked three words that describe my style and I decorate around those three words.
My style www.somuchbetterwithage.com
Rustic to me can be industrial or vintage.

Beachy to me means anything coastal like my capiz shell chandelier.
My style www.somuchbetterwithage.com
French to me is anything French or Swedish or anything in that torn, faded, grain-sack, European era.
My style www.somuchbetterwithage.com
How did I find my style? It's taken years for me to define it but I've always just loved all these three things: rustic, beachy and french.
My style www.somuchbetterwithage.com
I grew up on a farm so I'm partial to rusty and chipped things. I looooove the laid back beachy white coastal feel. And I've loved everything to do with Paris and french stuff since I was young.
My style www.somuchbetterwithage.com
I used to sway back and forth between all those items but then one day I decided to just make it all work! I didn't want to be defined by just one certain style. I love all three and I make it work because I love it!
My style www.somuchbetterwithage.com
It can take a long time to find all the pieces that fit in your home. Some things you can buy new but others take patience to find through treasure hunting.
My style www.somuchbetterwithage.com
I tend to love everything that Restoration Hardware puts out.
My style www.somuchbetterwithage.com
But I also want it to reflect me so I don't want my home to look like an RH showroom. And it's also fun to find items for a great price!
My style www.somuchbetterwithage.com
My most treasured piece in my home is a hard one for me to answer. I want to say my dough bowl because I love it and searched high and low for it. But if my house was burning would I grab it? Probably not. But I would be heartbroken if something ever happened to it. But then I tend to love really big and heavy items {suitcases, crocks, dough bowls, scales, furniture} so they would be hard to break or lose ;)
My style www.somuchbetterwithage.com
The easiest tip for creating a beautiful home is just to buy things you love. Even if that means that item was once junk to someone else. You have to stop worrying what everyone else likes and just do what you like. As soon as I stopped worrying, my whole place started to come together. I don't watch trends and only get on board with a trend if I love it, not because it's "in".
My style www.somuchbetterwithage.com
I also tend to like things clean and simple and organized. If a room has these three elements plus the items you love, you can't go wrong!

I hope you can stop by my blog some time and take a look around.
Thanks so much for having me here!!

Jamie thank you so much for coming over today and sharing your style with us. Your home is just filled with inspiration for us.
