Simple Spring Front Porch

While taking a little break from the kitchen reno I decided it was time to give our naked front porch a touch of spring.
The Hubster just recently changed out our door hardware out of necessity so that led to me sanding down and re staining the door. It sounds like such a daunting task but really it is not. Our door has variations in color so I just lightly sand it to get the old poly off and then put the fresh stain on. No need to strip the entire door. The trick I think is to make sure you have a stain that already goes with your door and to not put the stain on too thick. I have seen far too many doors that have had the stain put on too thick and trust me when I say that is not a good look.
I purchased this wreath from HomeGoods last month. I normally make my own wreaths but the price was right. I could not make it for any less. I hung it with some burlap ribbon from HobbyLobby. You can get a nice size roll for less than $3 when it is on sale which is frequently. I always snatch up a few when I go in. I then made a loose bow and tied it around the ribbon. The entire wreath is hanging from the door by an uphostery tack I place at the top of my door.
My spring bunny that my mama gave me. I made a burlap bow for here too. I will probably change out the basket to some flowers once I find some.
My faux fern in an urn ;) even got its very own burlap bow to balance the porch out. Yes, I know I need to replace them for fresh ones. It is on my list.
Thanx for stopping by to visit! The stove vent came in yesterday so now it is time to get cracking on building the new hood. Wish us luck!

Treasure Hunt Thursday #99 & Highlights

Treasure Hunt #99 already!? Wow time sure has flown by. Thank you to all of you come and party every week. I enjoy seeing such a fabulous mix of bloggers participating from old timers to the newbies and that is what makes this party so much fun. There is always a ton of talent out there.

Here are my top picks from last weeks party.

Anita over at Mod Vintage Life shared this beautiful spring tulip display.
Katie over at Let's Add Sprinkles shared her vanity makeover.
Carol over at An Oasis In The Desert shared her amazingly organized mom cave.
Kim over at Savvy Southern Style shared her updated dining room. I am swooning over her new bench and the newly updated chairs.
Jeanette over at Creating a Life shared a few of her amazing treasures.

If you have been featured please feel free to grab the "I have been featured" button to proudly display on your sidebar!:)

Now on to this weeks party!
What would be a HUGE help and encourage more comments not just from me but others as well would be for everybody to take off their required verification codes for leaving a comment. This seems to take just a few seconds of time but when you have to do it on 30 or more blogs it takes up a TON of time. Last week most everybody had turned off their Word Verification which made it so much easier for me to stop by everybody's links! Thank you!

READ THE RULES PLEASE!:)
Now on to this weeks party!
As with all parties there are the normal rules. You must link back to From My Front Porch To Yours in your THT POST. Just common courtesy. If ya don't link back ya don't get to party. Only link up to your Treasure Hunt Thursday post and NOT your blog homepage. Please No advertising and PLEASE NO MORE than 3 links from the SAME party goer. Also NO MORE linking up to your own link parties. I am seeing more and more link ups of just people promoting their own linky parties. I know it takes time to go back and make a separate post to join the party but it is just the polite thing to do. If you find your post deleted it is not because I am a meany, I just have to make sure the rules are being followed. You can save some of your posts for the following weeks party! Please only link up new posts and not posts that you linked up the week before.
Also be sure to visit at least the link before you and after you to just say Hi! It makes partying all the more fun and remember if your link has had the most visits you will get featured on Tuesdays! If you are new around here I would love it if ya become a follower!:)

Most Viewed Links THT #98 & A Treasure For The Kitchen

Time to find out who had the most viewed links from last weeks Treasure Hunt Thursday!
1. Coastal Charm- Kitchen Inspiration
2. Storywood Designs- Coffee Table Makeover
3. Hickory Trail- Easter Mantle

Thanx ladies for partying!
Speaking of treasures last week was a busy busy week. I had had no time to browse my favorite classified sites during the day so Friday night before turning in I took a moment to see if I had missed anything. To my surprise I saw this fabulous round kitchen table and it was still available so first thing Saturday morning we went to pick it up. I had been on the hunt for a round kitchen table for awhile now but had not found just the right one.

This one I just loved not only for its ornate sides but also because of this.
It has a leaf that folds into the table. How very practical I thought. Once I finish painting the kitchen we will bring it in the breakfast area. It needs some loving eventually. I am trying to figure out just how old it is or if it even is old. I looked for markings and did not see any when I was wiping it down. If anybody has any idea who the maker is or how old it is please let me know!:) That will weigh heavily on my plans for it.

Back to grouting the kitchen tile. See ya back here tomorrow for THT #99!!

Kitchen Reno Part 2

We started demo last Tuesday I think it was or maybe Monday. I have lost track. It has been a long week. Anyways, don't ya just love my new mani!?;)
We completed the desk area first and used a smaller travertine tile here. After we had it all up I decided that the smaller would be too busy everywhere in the kitchen so we headed back to the tile store to return the smaller and to buy the larger ones.
The larger tiles went up much faster and they still tie into the desk area because they are the same color story. We had a few tiles that kept wanting pop off the wall for some reason so I just tapped them up till they dried. Worked like a charm.
This is The Hubster just before we started on the last area to be tiled. He looks so thrilled does't he!;) He was a really good sport and he loves the end result.
11:30 Saturday night putting up the last tile. Probably one of the worst pics ever but hey just keeping it real after three non stop days of working.
We both are in love with how it all turned out! Sunday I took the day off but now I am now busy sealing and grouting everything.
The design we came up with for the cooktop. The Hubster says the glass tiles look khaki. I say they look green. He prefers khaki so we will just go with that!;)
I am still torn on paint color for the walls even though I already purchased two gallons. I am also still torn on the cabinet color. I am pretty sure it will be Old White though. The Papa is trying his hardest to get me not to paint the cabinets. I just "have" to though to achieve my vision of a brighter kitchen and trust me the cabinets may look nice from afar but they are dinged and scratched in some places and hazy for some reason in others.
Our plans do not stop at tiling and painting! We had to take our monster of a micro down from above the stove because the builder had tiled behind it. Once it came down The Hubster kept eyeing it and I knew exactly what he was thinking. The micro was not to go back up! It was something I have been dreaming to do for awhile now so it thrilled me to pieces that he saw the vision too.

Now we are in the process of designing a custom hood.

A lot of my inspiration pics have hoods with display shelves so I knew I had to have one. I can not wait to actually start building it!
I wanted to thank everybody for all your kind comments thus far on our reno!! I really appreciate them all and apologize that I just have not had time to respond to them all. I have read each and every one though and y'all warm my heart!:)
See ya back here tomorrow for the most viewed links from last weeks Treasure Hunt Thursday! I will also share a treasure I found over the weekend for the kitchen! I just love it when things come together!
....just because I have not shared a cute puppy pic lately! Our Savannah has ben a doll thru this entire process though she thought she could help me pic a paint color and ended up with paint on her ear. The Hubster laughed and said yep, she is our dog!;)

How I Found My Style Sundays- Faded Charm

Hi, my name is Kathleen from Faded Charm and I would like to start off by thanking Pamela for having me here today.  Please have a seat and join me on my tour.

I would describe my style as being elegantly rustic by combining worn and weathered items with chandeliers, ironstone and linens to create a time worn atmosphere.

I decorate with many different shades of white mixed with warm woods and lots of patina.  I've collected architectural pieces for years and not only love the history behind each item, but also the texture they add to a room.

I'm very fond of quite a few pieces in my home, but right now my favorite piece would be this primitive pie cupboard I've recently purchased.  I had been looking for one for a while to fill with ironstone and think it fits this area nicely.

My decorating style has evolved over the years, but I've found that by keeping a nuetral background I can easily move furniture from room to room or even from inside to out.  Outdoor garden items are always welcome inside my home.  I like to create an inviting living space on both my porch and patio as well.  Both these areas get used frequently in the hot Summer months.

Flowers are a must and I like them placed in trophies, urns, pitchers, bottles, etc....throughout my home.

Even a laundry room can be functional as well as still fitting into your decorating style.  My advice is to surround yourself with things you love and by doing that you will create your own style.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and I would like to thank Pamela again for having me.

Thank you Kathleen for sharing your beautiful home with us!
I am so glad that everybody is enjoying "How I Found My Style Sundays"!
