Winter Dining Room & HomeGoods Love

This week I have been working on accessorizing the house. Everything was looking so bare after the Christmas was taken down.
The first room I have completed "winterizing" is the dining room.

I went to return something to HomeGoods and found Mr. Roo. He HAD to come home with me. I had been wanting one for several years now.
Those of you who follow along with me on FaceBook know that I recently found some french looking linens with red stripes at HomeGoods. Well the same day I found Mr. Roo I also found the linens in black and well I could not pass um by. They hopped right in the cart.
I kept things pretty simple and basic till I bring out all the spring decor.
I pulled out my Pottery Barn finials and gave them some dry brushing with Old White. They were too brown before. This wreath is another HomeGoods find from the last month. This time of year is always my favorite time to shop HomeGoods. They have the best stuff after getting rid of all the holiday.
All of these accessories I already owned but they all came from HomeGoods too! I think I may need to join HGoholics!;) They always have the best deals. No this post is not sponsored by HG. In my dreams!;)
Speaking of deals look what I brought home!! I found it on a local yard sale site and fell head over heels. I had been saving my Christmas money in hopes of finding an antique secretary but that all went out the window!;)
So now that I have it and the two matching sconces I have a decision to make. I LOVE my chandy's with bling. This one here in our dining room matches the one above our kitchen so I could take this one down and put it in our breakfast room but I really like the one we have in there. The other option is to use it on our stair landing but The Hubster thinks if we do that then we would have to change out our foyer light to match. Don't freak just yet Papa!;) If we did do all of that then we would put the matching sconces on the outside of the office but that would involve running electrical work. The last possibility would be to put it above our master tub but that too would involve electrical to be run.

Decisions decisions decisions. What would you do?
Do not forget to stop back by Sunday for the first "How I Found My Style Sundays". Who will be the first featured blogger? I could be contacting you next!:)

If you have been featured please feel free to grab the "I have been featured" button to proudly display on your sidebar!:)

Now on to this weeks party!
What would be a HUGE help and encourage more comments not just from me but others as well would be for everybody to take off their required verification codes for leaving a comment. This seems to take just a few seconds of time but when you have to do it on 30 or more blogs it takes up a TON of time. Last week most everybody had turned off their Word Verification which made it so much easier for me to stop by everybody's links! Thank you!

READ THE RULES PLEASE!:)
Now on to this weeks party!
As with all parties there are the normal rules. You must link back to From My Front Porch To Yours in your THT POST. Just common courtesy. If ya don't link back ya don't get to party. Only link up to your Treasure Hunt Thursday post and NOT your blog homepage. Please No advertising and PLEASE NO MORE than 3 links from the SAME party goer. Also NO MORE linking up to your own link parties. I am seeing more and more link ups of just people promoting their own linky parties. I know it takes time to go back and make a separate post to join the party but it is just the polite thing to do. If you find your post deleted it is not because I am a meany, I just have to make sure the rules are being followed. You can save some of your posts for the following weeks party! Please only link up new posts and not posts that you linked up the week before.

Also be sure to visit at least the link before you and after you to just say Hi! It makes partying all the more fun and remember if your link has had the most visits you will get featured on Tuesdays! If you are new around here I would love it if ya become a follower!:)

Ikea Tin Transformed with Chalk Paint

Today has been a dreary 38 degrees and my allergies were going crazy so I staid in and completed a little project.
A few weeks back I picked up a set of farmhouse styled tins from Ikea for $12.99.
When I purchased them I knew they would make a good project so I busted out my AS paints.
I am an Old White fan so it was my first go to color.
After highlighting areas with Cottage Grey I then proceeded to frenchy it up a tad more by printing out these graphics I found on the net.
To transfer the images to the tin I used a pencil and just scribbled all around making sure that I hit all the areas of the graphic.
Next up I placed the graphics and then traced an outline of them with a ballpoint pen.
Before taking the graphics off I made sure that they were traced all the way.
This is how the tracing came out.
Next up I used a small paint brush and started filling in the traced areas with some black paint.
It took a steady hand but I finally filled it all in.
Next up I aged the tin with wax.
Be sure to clear wax any piece first before placing dark wax on so that you can easily take the dark wax back off if you put on too much. If you do not clear wax first the dark wax will soak into the paint and will not come off.
Now I have a French Farmhouse tin that I am using to style the fireplace! Now I just need to decide what to do with the tall tin.

This was an easy 30 minute project because I used a hair dryer to help the paint dry. Please not that if you use a hair dryer the chalk paint may crackle. For me that is never a problem because I love when things looks chippy and old.

Vintage Dresser Redo Take 2

Back in 2010 I picked this vintage dresser up for just $65. It had seen much better days. I had purchased it so I could have a folding area in our laundry room.
It got a makeover with yellow paint and new knobs.
Not too long ago I decided I was tired of the yellow and thus out came my AS paints.
I covered a majority of the area loosely with Old White. I did not mind if some of the yellow slightly showed.
Next I colored washed it with Country Grey to give it that time worn feel. Total paint time was just 45 minutes to include a clear wax top coat!
Then I updated the hardware yet again with beautiful crystal knobs.
As you can see the dresser got more than just a new paint job and new knobs. The Hubster helped me take out the bottom two drawers. The drawers never pulled out correctly so I never used them.
I needed a spot for Baby Girls kennel which fits perfectly! She loves having her own space away from everything. Sometimes though her kitty siblings like to walk by, then just sit and stare at her while she is napping.
So last night I made this little curtain from a shower curtain I had purchased on clearance at Target. It was part of the Shabby Chic Collection they carry. Savannah loves it so much that she actually slept till 9 am this morning! Her normal routine is to wake between 6 and 6:30 so the late start was very much appreciated!;)
As you can see I am almost ready to reveal the laundry room makeover! The Hubster took down the fluorescent light today so all I need to do is to decide on the new light!

Before I go I wanted to let y'all know that next Sunday I will begin my new series called "How I Found My Style". Every Sunday I will be featuring a different blogger who will share with us how they "found" their style and their personal tips on creating a beautiful home. I can not wait! I already have thru Feb scheduled and y'all will just love who will be here visiting and sharing with us!

Have a good one!
