How I Found My Style Sundays- Savvy Seasons

EDITED NOTE: For those of you who have inquired about where Liz's blog and YouTube videos have gone, I have spoken with her and sadly she has decided to exit the world of blogging. Thankfully though she has said that it is ok to leave her feature up for us all to continue to enjoy. I know I will dearly miss Liz. I have been following her blogging journey for the entire life of my blog. I wish her and her family well and look forward to her stopping by and visiting from time to time.

W E L C O M E   T O...
~This weeks style, T U S C A N   S T Y L E!
Hi Everyone, I'm Liz from Savvy Seasons! Pamela was so sweet to ask me to share 'How I Found My Style' here on her wonderful blog. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this series.
****
I believe that our style evolves over time, so today I would like to take you on a trip down "memory lane" and share with you how I found my style.
This was our home in Alabama. At the time, my style was a mix of Southern style and Tuscan. I think I was a bit more minimalistic back then for sure. ;)
This was our home in Virginia. I think my style was a bit of southern, traditional, and Tuscan mixed.
I was REALLY into color in this house. Every room was painted. ;)
This was a home we rented when we first came to the Pacific Northwest. Now, although this home looks like Craftsman style on the outside, the inside was all Tuscan Style.
This home had all the tuscan earthy colors, stonework, and finishings that I love!
This is our current home in Washington. We downsized as you can see. I love our home, but I am working hard to make it more Tuscan Style.
1-My decorating style is...T u s c a n.
2- How did you "find" your style of decorating? Well, I found my style through trial and error. I have always tried new ways of decorating, but I always come back to Tuscan, it truly makes me happy.
3- What has been your most treasured find for your home? I know this is going to sound crazy, but my most treasured find for my home are two iron gates I found at Ross...they completely transformed my kitchen and gave it the Tuscan look I was going for. See picture below.
4- What tips do you have for creating a beautiful home? My tip would be not to follow decorating trends, trends go in and out of style. Try to stick with a color palette, furnishings, and accessories that reflect your personality and style. If you follow that rule, you can never go wrong. :)
My style is comfortable and cozy.
I love good lighting, so I add a lot of lamps here and there.
We added an old rustic window frame above the kitchen island, which became another place to decorate, and I can also add pots around the perimeter, but right now I have a spring garland hanging where the pots used to be.
We also added this old ladder above the kitchen table. I accessorized the ladder with lots of curly willow and floral picks. It's like eating under a canopy of spring flowers, it's different.
Here is our cozy Tuscan family room.
Lots of warm earthy colors.
I adore knick-knacks and creating vignettes.
This is my Euro flair display.
I added a burlap bow to the top of my mirror to add a little texture.
Here's a peek into the dining and kitchen area.
This our family room mantle.
 A close-up of the ladder.
Here is our Tuscan home theater.
Lastly, every girl needs one of these, your very own home store, as I like to refer to it. Take your decor items out of those bins and store them on storage shelves. So, when you feel the need to decorate  you know where everything is and everything has it's place. Decorating becomes a breeze.
Thank you all for stopping by and taking a trip with me down memory lane. Try to look back at some of your old pictures to see how you discovered your style, it's fun! XOXO ~Liz

Isn't Liz's home just amazing!? I have to say her favorite item is mine as well. I fell head over heels when she shared those iron gates above her kitchen sink and how about going shopping in her storage room!? I think she would have to kick me out!;)
Thank you Liz for sharing your beautiful home with us. I have enjoyed following you thru out the years and in your multiple moves.

  23. I have admired Liz's home before and love that it is featured here! It is so gorgeous! Tuscan is one of my favorite decorating styles and Liz takes it to the utmost height! Love those gates, the furniture and that goodie closet! There's more decor in there than I have in my entire home! That's not a criticism, that's an OH WOW! I WANT! LOL! Impressive to say the least and a great idea for easily changing out items! Love the home theatre too - heck, I love everything! Great feature! Hugs, Leena

  31. I clicked and clicked my links looking for her blog...then I saw your post...I am soooo sad. I enjoyed every single post Liz made. I do hope after a short break, she misses blogging, because I know I will miss her so much. This was a wonderful walk through of her houses, showing her decorating style that we've all loved. She's been an inspiration to me...even though I can't begin to match what she does, I've always gotten little tips I could use. Thanks Liz for what you've shared with me!

  32. I've looked everywhere for Liz. Reading her blog with my morning coffee was just the get-up-and-go that I needed. I've been reading her blog for years and she has inspired me so much. While I wish her and her family the very best, I hope she gets bored and misses blogging. I will especially be sad during the holidays.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Does anyone know her email address? She was always good about telling us when she would be gone.. I'm kind of worried about her...

  34. Oh my goodness, how I will miss Liz. ESPECIALLY when the holidays roll around and she was a month ahead on everything, so therefore, I got great ideas just in time for my holiday decorating. I just loved seeing all her gorgeous decorations. I am SO SO SAD! I do hope everything is ok.

  35. Thanks for sharing with us as to what happened to Liz...I am very sad as well that she has currently "retired" her blog sessions with us. I recently learned of her in late February of this year and enjoyed every thing she had posted from blog to videos.
It is obvious she has inspired so many wither great talent in decorating. I was thrilled to have wondered on her features and looked forward into her upcoming post and videos. She and her work will be deeply missed, but in hopes that she will return again someday. Thank you for leaving these up so that we can periodically return for more inspirational ideas. We have some awesome blog friends to follow, but she will be one missed! :(

  36. I am so glad you have spoken to her and she and her family are ok. I was getting a little concerned since I had featured her on my blog and others were asking me if I knew where she was. I discovered her at Christmas and I loved her blog and youtube channel. She is greatly missed in the blogging world but I wish her and her and her family much success.

  40. Thank you for letting us know about Liz. I'm saddened to hear that Liz no longer blogs. Hers was one of my favorites and I loved her seasonal decorations. Maybe, in time, after a break, she'll miss blogging and come back. I'll be there waiting for a new post when she does!!!

  43. Thank you so much for letting us know about Liz and her blog. I understand about people needing time away but I selfishly wished she would leave her blog "up" for inspiration! She was the go to girl for holidays, I loved checking out her Christmas displays.
Again, thanks, and I love your series "how I found my style"

  46. I am so bummed right now!! I have wondered what happened to Liz the last few months and now I know. She was my favorite blog!! I hope she comes back....but if she doesn't, I wish her the best!

Hopefully another Tuscany inspired blogger will be found. No one will replace her though.

  47. Yes, we miss you Liz! I always loved reading your blog and looking at your beautiful pictures - you really know how to decorate on a budget! We would love to see you again!

  48. Just dropping by to say I still miss Liz's blog and videos. What worried me most was that there was no warning and it was literally here today and gone tomorrow in the blink of an eye. I was so worried because she was always so visible and I was afraid something had happened. I looked for her newest post every morning and still do in hopes she has had a change of heart. Please tell her we miss her.

  49. I am so glad to hear that Liz is oK. I was very worried about her. After watching her videos I realized that Tuscan was my style too! She is an amazing, giving person and I hope that she will one day return to blogging...or maybe even just doing videos.

I will say a prayer for Liz and her family! You are greatly missed Liz!

  50. I have recently become a pinterest junkie and came across Liz's pictures and I'm saddened to hear she is retiring from blogging. I too hope she changes her mind. I have many styles and likes and learn from many, but she has a way with putting her vignettes together rather well. Hope she comes back for the Christmas holiday!!

  51. I've loved all of Liz's pics and blogs. Having withdrawals. :( Tuscan and Old World are my fave décor and most of home is themed that way. My bedrooms however have their own characters (master is Old World), Guest getaway is-Beach/shell themed and office/guest- is Shabby chic. I bought a rustic ladder to décor and hang over my "dinette" area-stole idea from her. So miss her.. Hope all is well and thank you for keeping her prior décor pics featured!

  52. Please let Liz know she is missed! I understand why she decided to leave the blogging world and you-tube world behind, but she truly is missed, not just for her talent, but the sweet spirit that came through her videos and blog post...Many blessings Miss Liz

  53. I loved Liz from Savvy Season's, but she just disappeared and took all her videos down. What happened to her? Why did she quit youtube and her blog? Do you know?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Claudine she decided it was best for her family to stop blogging for now. She no longer wanted her videos up nor her blog but she agreed to allow this post to stay up.

  54. why would you just stop posting and leave things up so we could enjoy your past work? Sorry think there is more to the story of where she disappeared. Loved Savy seasons! Wish I could rewatch the fun but I am sure this all has to do with something legal as of why she felt the need to remove things esp. on youtube where it was FREE to post. What ever the reason Liz praying that all is well and life can get back to normal for all of you.

    1. Nothing legal Pattie. She felt it was best for her family to stop and to delete her accounts. They decided that they wanted their privacy back. When you blog you are out there for the entire world to see.
