Fluffing My Space & A Sale

Some of you emailed me asking me my plans for Jennie. Well I took her out to The Old Oak Cottage today to put in my space. I think she looks right at home there but hopefully she won't be there long.
I did some fluffing and added a few new accessories.

The Old Oak Cottage is having a sale tomorrow.
If you are local come out and shop! The cottage and showroom are looking fabulous! Lots of new goodies thru out.

Next up I need to finish "Whitney" and the farmhouse coffee table I am working on.

When I came in today I saw this beautiful mirror hanging above my space. I fell in love with it. I am just not sure I can part with the $100 it will take to bring it to my house.

Hope your week was a good one! Sending prayers out for those effected by the terrible storms this week.

Jennie

Quite a few months ago I shared this awesome vintage chair that I found a GoodWill. First off I NEVER find anything there and secondly it was in immaculate condition so it had to come home with me. It just needed a make over thats all. Mind you I have NEVER done upholstery before so it sat and sat and sat.

Eventually I came up with this plan. I loved the fabric but then....

I stumbled upon this fun fabric. I admit it is not my norm but I loved all the bright fun colors. It just makes ya smile!:) It reminds me of my friend Jennifer who guided me thru the upholstery process. She is a superhero when it comes to upholstery!

I added the upholstery tacks and let me say I was on the verge of throwing things around in the garage trying to get these on. A few dirty words did fly from my lips but hey I was by myself. I had to redo the first row I had started on and they were all bending. I was fit to be tied and then it dawned on me this morning that I just needed to use the smallest drill bit possible and drill pre holes. It worked like a charm! I could have hit myself for not thinking of that earlier. It was certainly a "DUH" moment!

The tacks go all the way around the chair and I just love them because if you look closely you can see that they mimic the floral pattern in the fabric.

I think she turned out just fabulous and I am so glad I was able to save her and give her a second life!

Hope your week is going well!

Busy Day

Today I have been under the weather a touch. Actually day number two of not feeling so well and praying it is not the start of the stomach virus I hear is going around. That would be really bad.
With that being said I figured it was as good of time as any to get some projects completed. I started on some new chalk boards this morning.

I also made piping for "Jennifer" and was able to attach her seat back on. Some would consider her complete but I wanted to add a little something else to make her special.

Here is that little something! I can't wait to share the before and after pics!

Hope your Tuesday was a grand one! Now off to finish making dinner and check homework.

Inexpensive Under Cabinet Lighting

Source
I love under cabinet lighting and have always wanted it in each of the homes we have lived in. The above kitchen is so bright and airy!

Here is our kitchen this evening with overhead lighting on and the lamp on top of the fridge on.

Here it is with the lights off except the lamp. Dark granite and dark cabinets make for a dark kitchen. We have purchased several different versions of under cabinet lighting in the past but I was never happy with the fact that we could see the the lights or the wiring. Our plugs are actually boxes on the bottom of the cabinets so when we plugged the under cabinet lighting in you could see the plugs. Just like you can see the cords in the righthand side there by the fridge for the lamp and my tart warmer. That drives me insane. I wish the outlets were in the back splash instead.

So can you imagine my excitement last weekend when we stumbled upon these at Costco!? They seemed like the perfect answer.

I attached them using velcro since I did not want to screw into the bottom of our cabinets. They have motion sensors and three settings. You can have them on auto or you can have them set to motion or just off and the motion thingy moves around so you can adjust it. Hmm, so now that they are up you are probably wondering just how bright they are seeing as they run off of three AA batteries.

Seeing as they are LED lights they are pretty dang bright! Here is a pic with the overhead lighting on.

And here is a pic with it off. I say they are well worth the $20 per pack that we paid. We purchased two packs but I want to go back and get a third because I think we need one over there by the cookbooks. The Hubster thinks its fine though. He wanted the fourth one above our computer. And even though they are a different color light than our oven light I am completely fine with that.

P.s. Can I tell you how bad I want new granite or to paint our cabinets!! They are beautiful so it will kill me to paint them but let me tell ya if we end up not moving this summer I am feeling a make over coming on!;)
