Lighting

I am in the midst of making a decision for our guest bedroom. I am working on the lighting for in there.
I shared this antique lamp last week that I purchased back in November when antiquing with my mama. It is the one lamp that is staying in the room. Yes, the gold mirror is from last week as well waiting to be made over like its twin or triplet in this case. Anyways, I am trying to figure out what style of lamp to do for the other bedside table.

I came across this Pottery Barn inspiration pic.

Went to Target today and found this lamp on clearance so I decided to bring it home to test it out. It was only $35 which is a far cry from the $129 PB wants for theirs.
Here is the full view. Still working on the headboard by the way!;)

Next up is another Pottery Barn inspiration pic.

Then I found this lamp at HomeGoods today for just $40. An even further cry from the $179 that PB wants for theirs! Can we say OUCH!
Keep in mind only one of the mirrors will be staying. I am wanting to do some smaller vintage mirrors on the wall where the lamp in question goes.

Now there is the love I have of chandy's. Inspiration from google. Check out that headboard while we are here! LOVE it!

This one is a tad over the top but still love it.Not sure where this pic came from. It was in my file.
More scaled to size chandy. Makes me say hmmmmm. Google again. Sorry!

Which brings me to this chandy that The Papa rewired for me. I love it but am torn on what way to go. If I chose this one should I hang it from a hook in the ceiling or should I hang it from an iron bracket attached to the side wall??
I have my two faves from this bunch. What one would you choose?

  1. I like them all, but I would love your pretty white bedding ;) I'm trying to find some inexpensively right now so that I can continue with our guest bedroom makeover.

  2. I love the chandelier but would like to see 2 on either side of the bed. Like the idea of hanging that on a wall instead. I love the desk lamp from Home Goods (I have two target ones on my girls desks in my sun room) but I don't think they cast enough light in the room (if they are your only source of lighting). I really like your antique light! Decisions, decisions, love them all so go with your fave!

  3. I like them all, but your antique lamp is my favorite, then the chandelier and the one with your kitty in the picture...the silver one. You always do such a good job decorating your home, so I'm sure it will be beautiful when you are finished!

  4. I would hang the chandy from the ceiling. I like the HG lamp (I bought it in ORB) better than the Target one. Should be fun when it all comes together.

  5. Hey what are your plans for the headboard? I recently came across a plant book with some pictures similar to those in the 5th picture down. I would be willing to scan them for you if you are interested!

  7. The Chandy is my vote. If you want it to be low like the other lamp I say hang from a hook on the wall but if it is going to be up a little higher than hang it from the ceiling. I too love the white bedding. Can't wait to see what you decide.

  8. Love, love, love the antique lamp! If you choose not to use it, just send it on to Mississippi and I can give it a good safe home :)
I am sure whatever you do will be beautiful!

  9. Your options are all nice, Pamela. That's a toughie. I love the lamp you have on the one side with the script shade, but I think either of the other two would work on the other side. I like the silver in both that picks up in the silver on the other one; and the one with the silver and wood ties in the other lamp and your wood side tables.

The chandy I might hang from the ceiling {with a hook} so it hangs over a seating area or, if you have a ceiling fixture in the middle of your room, just hanging there {as long as you wouldn't hit your heads or anything}. : )

  10. I would hang Chandy in corner, with mirror on wall to reflect the chandy. I'd make sure to hang it at a height pleasing for reading. I think the glass lamp would compliment the chandy, using it on the larger nightstand. Perhaps with a live plant -maybe in a silver Paul Revere bowl?

  11. I love all of your choices! Your bedding looks so pretty and I like the direction you're taking this room. I would hang the chandelier in the middle of the room over the bed if that was possible and then use a lamp on each bedside table. I like the mix.

  12. Hi Pamela, Love it all but I really like the silver lamp on the side table. I think it will look nice with what you plan on doing with the wall above it. Newest fan to your blog and FB page :0)
