Frenchy Side Table

Back in February I took Lucy on her first junkin' adventure.

I had found this pair of darling side tables that turned out to be in excellent condition.  Almost too perfect and I felt a bit guilty wanting to make them over but I did it anyways.

While The Nana and The Papa were in town a few weeks back I got busy sanding one of the tables down. After I finally figured out which direction I wanted to go the process went fairly well.

Ta-da! I love how it turned out.

Let me tell ya it took quite a few hours of distressing to get the look I wanted. I do all f my sanding by hand since I HATE my mouse sander. I need to research to find a better sander that won't leave squiggly lines everywhere. If you have a sander and love it please do share!:)

Anything with turney legs and spindles or what have ya always takes a bit longer. I accomplished this look by first  adding a base coat of SW Vanillan and then I dry brushed on SW Rainwashed and decided it was not blue enough so I then dry brushed Straton Blue on top of that. After all that was done I began the HARD part of distressing the entire piece.

I wanted to do something to the top to add some flare and so I just painted the edge with Vanillan and then distressed that as well. I did not want it to look perfect.

To make it have more of an antique feel I finished it off with some Walnut stain. I just wiped it on and then wiped it off. I did have to use one of those spongy craft brushes to get in all of the nooks and crannies.

Here is one last look at my Frenchy side table. I was a bit nervous abt doing this piece because it will be the first piece I am offering up for sale. I am hoping it will be 100% dry this weekend so I can list it. I am thinking of listing it at $115 and then if they want the second one to match I will do them both at $195. Not sure though. I am just basing that off of what I am seeing from other VERY talented local artists. Please feel free to share your thoughts. I WONT be offended I promise!;)

Thanx for coming by! Off to make some dinner, do some homework, and fold some laundry.

  3. I love this, Pamela! I'm so glad you didn't have us wait too long for the reveal! : ) I love how you added the paint around the edge of the top. This is just perfect. Will you do the other one different? I wouldn't even know what number to throw out there because I wouldn't want to offend if its too low a price. I'm sure you will price it fairly though and it will be right out your door!

  4. I love it Pamela. I am painting a side table I found today with the new chalk paint. So far so good. The table you did looks fabulous and you should have no trouble selling them. Most tables I see cost more than that. Of course I refuse to pay the high prices, too. I lucked up on a deal today. Thanks for joining WUW.

  10. Pam this is beautiful! You put a lot of work into it girl! I love the color and the white along the edge on top, so creative! I do not like to sand and my sander is circular so it leaves circle marks.
I know it will sell, it is so pretty!! :)

    Have a great weekend!

  11. Do you mind if I send some furniture to you to re-do for me? LOL I don't know what kind of work you do, but I think you missed your calling. All of your furniture turns out beautifully. I don't think you will have a problem at all selling these pieces. I have a small hand sander, don't know what kind, and I just hand it to hubby to use, so I am of no help. Sorry

  15. Okay Pam, those are gorgeous!! You did an incredible job on them. The detail is just beautiful, love them! I think you should price them what your gut tells you to and than you can always reduce them if you have to. Some of it's just trial and error with pricing things. Thanks for linking them up to Inspiration Friday. They caught my eye right away!

  19. I love your table and the crowning touch is the edge that you painted on the top. I cannot help you with the sander question. We have one but I have not used it so I can't say. I plan on redoing a coffee table that I have so I will find out soon how it works! I think that you could easily sell the table for what you're asking.
